User interface and visual design concepts for Singapore’s National Heritage Board intranet portal

Project Overview

While at Total eBiz Solutions Pte Ltd, I was tasked with developing design proposals for the National Heritage Board of Singapore’s intranet portal. The challenge was to create a modern internal communication platform that was clear, user-friendly, and visually engaging, helping staff quickly access announcements, events, directories, and shared resources.

The proposals emphasized clarity, modular navigation, and cultural storytelling, with color-coded tiles for wayfinding and heritage-inspired backgrounds to connect the interface with NHB’s identity and mission.

My Role

  • Concept Development – Translating organizational needs into accessible visual directions
  • UI/UX Design – Designing intuitive layouts and navigation structures for efficiency
  • Visual Design – Applying brand-consistent color, typography, and iconography
  • Mockups & Prototypes – Delivering multiple design approaches for stakeholder review

Design Approach

  • Created modular layouts to simplify navigation and prioritize quick access to key functions
  • Used color-coded tiles to improve wayfinding across announcements, staff directories, events calendars, and galleries
  • Integrated cultural motifs and subtle heritage-inspired visuals to reflect NHB’s values and brand identity
  • Provided multiple proposals to allow stakeholders to explore different design directions and usability improvements

Outcome

These proposals demonstrated how the intranet could evolve into a user-friendly and visually cohesive internal platform. While digital tools and platforms have since advanced, the design principles applied here — clarity, accessibility, and brand-aligned storytelling — remain central to my design practice today.
